The Related References report multi-year cross-sectional student achievement trajectories showing the ITBS Reading Comprehension and Science achievement across grades 3-8. In interpreting these findings, it is important to recognize that the Science IDEAS model was only implemented in grades 3-5, not in grades 6-8. So, student achievement in grades 6-8 represent positive transfer to middle school resulting from the implementation of the Science IDEAS model at the upper elementary grades 3-5. This transfer effect provides evidence in support of the general goal of the Science IDEAS model to help prepare students to be successful at the secondary level.
